CASTING TO PERFECTION.
The challenge of calcium recovery in steelmaking primarily stems from the use of Calcium Silicide (CaSi) lumps which due to its low density tends to float on the surface of the melt, resulting in significant losses from oxidation and slag formation, with recovery rates falling below 10%. In contrast, the cored wire injection system provides a more efficient solution. By encapsulating CaSi in a steel sheath, the cored wire can be injected deep into the steel melt. This method not only minimizes oxidation losses but also allows for more precise control over the calcium composition., the recovery rate of calcium significantly improves, ranging from 15% to 30%.
